Pulguksa (1)
Pulguksa is able to boast of the crown of architectural performance
during the Shilla dynasty. It was built in 528 under kingdom of Pob-hung,
was extended in 751 and then destroyed by a Japanese attack in 1593.
Between 1970 and 1972 a few parts were re-built. Most remarkable are two
totally different pagodas, one simple pagoda in the style of Shilla art and one
richly decorated pagoda which is more typical for the in former times neighbouring
kingdom of Paekche. The picture shows the most famous view of Pulguksa, which
looks best in autumn when all the leafs turned yellow and red.
