third tunnel
The entrance to the third tunnel the Northkoreans built in order to
infiltrate South Korea in a surprise attack. The tunnel was discovered
in October 1978 and is situated in the so-called demilitarized zone (DMZ)
which marks the frontier between North and South Korea since the end of the
Korean War in 1953. In the DMZ you find the settlement of P'anmunjom, which
was place of peace negotiations for several times despite of or even just because
of many exchanges of fire in this area.
